Would you love to have a fun, adventurous experience in the wild, work in a spectacular natural rural setting, meet new people in modern Nairobi City and interact with rural folk in traditional Voi Town? Would you do these all for the conservation and protection of Africa’s animals?

Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) offers a unique first-hand experience to care for and protect animals in the wild and domesticated animals in Kenya to interested people all over the world through long-term and short-term volunteer programs. ANAW provides an ambience for professional growth and active learning. The exposure to great sources of knowledge from the available facilities and situations demanding constant and deep thinking enables one to produce top notch work. The organization also provides opportunities to work with rural communities in order to promote sustainable alternatives to Bush Meat Trade.

Work Description

At ANAW, volunteers and interns may help largely in a given number of tasks. During their time in Kenya they will take part in research work, community education, animal welfare projects, habitat restoration, proposal writing and reporting, developing and editing content for communication materials, writing and analyzing special documents, artwork, website updating and maintenance, ecotourism, desnaring, rescue operations and afforestation.

Qualifications

Skills required vary as there is opporunity for the development of most careers. Some skills may include:

What we require may not be limited to the above categories as the needs are project tailored. Please be clear and precise in your application on the qualifications, skills and experience you have so that we can place you in the appropriate area. A mastery of the English language is a must.

The volunteers will be allocated specific duties according to their individual experience, skills, interests and available work in the organization. All volunteers must be willing and be available to help out in any department of the organization as required. Volunteers should expect to take part in strenuous and tedious work under challenging conditions.
